Jeanine Bauer Bakker, MA, LPC

Jeanine Bauer Bakker, MA, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Emotion Management Program, LLC. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Christian College and holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Development and Education from The Erikson Institute. Jeanine has over 40 years of experience working in the social service field as a childcare counselor, educator, literacy specialist, group facilitator, and program director. Ms. Bakker pioneered the integration of mindfulness practice and a neurological brain-based curriculum into the elementary classroom. Her work with children and families was rooted in constructivist theory; as people experience the world and reflect upon those experiences, they build their own representations and incorporate new information into their pre-existing knowledge and behaviors.

These learning theories and skills get translated into her current therapy work with adults through the use of empirically-based research that blends Contextual Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and developmental psychology. Ms. Bakker’s strength-based, biopsychosocial therapeutic approach evolves from collaborative and trusting relationships with clients. One size does not fit all. Change is always a process. Self-awareness and acceptance grow by using behavioral skills that commit one toward living a more meaningful life based on one’s personal values.
