Claire Sonne is a clinical fellow and member of the C-DBT clinical team at the Emotion Management Program.

Claire received their Master of Arts in clinical social work from the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice and their Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Women’s Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. They utilize a contextual perspective on human behavior that assumes each of us is doing the best we know how. Further, Claire understands that various types of systemic oppression are deeply intertwined with our individual well-being and mental health. They are committed to accompanying people with whom they work by joining them on their mental health journey.

Claire’s approach is strongly rooted in contextual behavioral practices that involve mindfulness-based interventions including contextually focused dialectical behavior therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.

Claire specializes in working with adults who identify as part of the Queer community. As a queer person, they bring a unique perspective and understanding to this work. Additionally, as a former Division 1 athlete and coach, Claire also specializes in working with current and former athletes, coaches, and other support personnel affiliated with the sports world. They also have a particular interest in assisting emerging adults struggling with the transition to adulthood.
