Abbas Chinoy
AM, MDiv, LCSW (he/him)
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, Abbas worked in lab research and as a spiritual caregiver in hospital and hospice settings including Rush University Medical Center and Lurie Children’s Hospital.
After the pivot to mental health, Abbas developed a strong resonance with contextual behavioral therapies. Abbas’ therapeutic approach is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Abbas received his Master of Divinity and Master of Clinical Social work from the University of Chicago. Additionally, Abbas has a certificate from the Graduate Program in Health Administration and Policy (GPHAP) from the University of Chicago. Abbas is certified by the Behavioral Tech Institute (previously known as the Linehan Institute) in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and holds a certificate in Trauma-Informed Care from the University of Chicago. Abbas is also a certified dementia practitioner (CDP).
Abbas loves anything to do with space and sci-fi, dogs, and discovering new beans for espresso.
